The high altitude and diverse snow-making systems guarantee a snow-sure ski area. Cross-country skiers will also find what they're looking for here: 18 km of trails winding through a beautiful wooded-area, at times challenging, at times easy. You can upgrade your lift pass to the "Superski Alta Valtellina", thus gaining access to 170 km of piste and 69 lift systems in the ski areas of Santa Caterina, Livigno, Bormio, and Valdidentro. You can shuttle between the ski areas with the free ski bus service. This resort is especially popular among families because of its quiet location. Santa Caterina Valfurva is a very small, quiet village at an altitude of 1,738 m. Close to the Swiss border, it lies in the middle of the fairy-tale landscape of the Lombardy Alps, nestled in the protected region of the Stilfserjoch National Park. The resort is located directly in the ski area. One can ski from the Monte Sobretta (2800m) directly into the village centre. In the background you'll find a panorama of the towering peaks of the Ortler mountain range and the Himalaya-esque Forni glacier. Because of its challenging cross-country trails, Santa Caterina is the host to many international cross-country competitions. The village is above all a cherished holiday destination for families.
